A good-value northern Tanzania circuit: fly to Arusha, spend two nights at Lasiti Lodge near Tarangire, known for its elephants and baobabs, then two nights at Eileen’s Trees Inn in the farming town of Karatu, below the Ngorongoro highlands, with a day on the crater floor.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Tarangire
Fly from Wilson Airport to Arusha and drive about two hours to Lasiti Lodge, with an afternoon game drive in Tarangire.
Day 2: Tarangire
A full day of game drives in Tarangire National Park.
Day 3: Tarangire – Karatu
Drive to Karatu and Eileen’s Trees Inn. A coffee farm tour can be added.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater
A full day on the crater floor with a picnic lunch, looking for lions, black rhino, buffalo and flamingos.
Day 5: Karatu – Nairobi
Drive back to Arusha and fly to Nairobi.
